BRiAN & RoBiN AT thru-hike 2010

Who are these people?

Picture
Brian Winnett (25) and Robin Brown (24) here, residing in good ole Knoxville, Tennessee.  Soon our names will be nearly obsolete, as we will obtain customary "trail names"...we'll keep you informed.  We have been a couple for four and a half wonderful years and counting.  We're both graduates of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.  We're about to give up our jobs, our apartment, our 2 cats (wah!) and take off on the walk of a lifetime.  Don't worry, the cats will be in good hands.

ROBIN:
Originally hailing from Lynchburg, Virginia, I'm a cardiac nurse, most recently employed at UT Medical Center.  I enjoy lots of  live music, cooking/eating delicious food, good beers, travel, and last but not least, hiking.   This journey will be completed in memory of my daddy, who passed away on December 23rd, 2009.  Dad-you will be forever missed, always loved, and never forgetten...THIS IS FOR YOU!

BRIAN:
I grew up in Nolensville, Tennessee, just outside of Nashville, until I moved to Knoxville for school.  I am a graduate of the Forestry program at the University of Tennessee.  Most recently, I was employed at Mast General Store in the outdoor department.  I enjoy hiking, biking, brewing/drinking a wide variety of beers, live music, disc golf, and most outdoor activities.

You're hiking WHAT? WHERE? For how long?

The Appalachian Trail is a 2,175 mile long footpath that stretches through the Appalachian Mountains in the Eastern United states.  The Trail (or AT, as we will refer to it) stretches from Springer Mountain, Georgia to Mount Katahdin, Maine and passes through 14 states along the way.  We will be hiking Northbound (NOBO) from Georgia with an approximate start date of March 6th or 7th, 2010.  We plan to complete, YES-walk the ENTIRE length of the trail in about 5 months, and no longer than 6 months.

SO the time is here, after 4 long years of planning & waiting, we are about to embark on the journey of a lifetime, hopefully this will be one of many adventures to come!  This website will serve as a partial record of our 2010 thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail.  We will update the site as often as possible in trail towns along the way.
